Inspire India |
What is the most important part of a nation? Indeed its denizens. So they are the ones who need to progress first for the progress of a nation, just as Lead India 2020 movement’s slogan "Aap Badho Desh Ko Badhao".
On the same lines the event “INSPIRE INDIA” was organized in the annual three day technical festival of College of Technology, GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttaranchal from 7th-9th March 2008 to awaken, rather inspire the youth to not just learn for themselves but also contribute that knowledge to the betterment of our nation. The competition was just a means to attract the youth technocrats towards the various issues relating to their country and remind them of their basic rights and duties.
The event had two different features.
First was the 3 day movement carried forward by Inspire India Team and second was the competition itself.
In the Movement a banner was being made each day in which for the first day a vow was written “I will vote from now” along with a few facts. On day 2 the pledge was ‘not to waste food’ along with a few stats. On day 3 a list of ‘fundamental duties’ were enumerated on the banner. The Motto of carrying out such a movement was to enlighten the youth towards their basic duties which due to ignorance we tend to forget. The movement was started by our Dean, Dr. M.P. Singh who signed of the day 1 banner followed by other faculty members and students. Then this movement spread like a grapevine and everyone became a part of it by signing on it.
The teams participating had two members each. The Inspire India competition comprised of three rounds:
The first round being an elimination round was a written questionnaire checking the participants on their knowledge of their countries past and the present. We believe that only that person can bring about some reform in the society who knows the conditions that have happened in the past which brought the present situation of our country. The round had a good number of entries, numbering nearly one hundred eighty. Out of this 12 teams were taken to the second round.

In the second round, teams were asked to give their views on the recent topics jeopardizing our country’s interests like the N-deal, Ram Sethu etc. Videos related to such topics were shown to them and they were to present their views. The team were questioned by judges, others teams and the audience present. The discussion brought out numerous aspects of the problems and proved an eye opener. There was a wild card entry into this round from the audience depending on active participation. Six teams out of this were taken to the third round.
In the third round, the teams have to be visionary to present a problem that our country might face in the near future due to loopholes in the current system. They had to give a possible solution i.e changes in the current system that would prevent that problem to occur in the future. We believe that only that person can lead a country who has the ability to see the future and be tactful enough to give solutions. As a continuation to this the teams were made to go out to the crowd and inspire them on basic but important issues like power saving, food saving etc. Participants came out with innovative problems that seemed very much possible but they also had a thoughtful solution.
Himanshu Jain and Kirtiman Bhattacharya of the College of Technology, Pantnagar turned out as winners of the competition.
But it wasn't about winning or loosing, it was all about that followed it. The people around could be seen discussing various issues discussed therein, many pledging to vote, not waste food or power etc. This is the real winning of the event. The three day show indeed inspired the crowd to shrug off their dilatory attitude and start acting today towards a bright future. Heartiest thanks for the Inspire India team for organizing such an inspirational event, Judges for giving their valuable time, those inspired and those yet to be inspired in the course of time and above all The Lead India 2020 who was beside us throughout this event to guide, support and motivate us to organize such an event. One of the Youth Leader of Lead India 2020 Mr. Chetan represented Lead India 2020 and contributed in an inspiring way being one among the judging panel. Our full appreciation to Lead India 2020 who contributed a lot to make this event a success. |
